Reflection

So the reason that I chose to create a poster is that most New Yorkers take public transportation to get from point A to point B. Sometimes even when you take trains that are underground your service gets disconnected in which you start looking around the train and depending on how interactive a poster is you would read it and look at it. I’ve been one of those people who usually look at posters and read and ask myself questions.  Many people are lazy to read a poster with words and usually, visual work is the way to go because it doesn’t take that much energy for them to decode the meaning behind it. In the poster, there are little amount of words so that it can help the audience to understand. Yet not too many words where it becomes overwhelming. To engage the audience not only do they have to look and read the poster but they also have to do some research and find the article that connects to the poster. Having a community of people who can also relate not only does it makes it easy for those who have already been through those stages but also for those who are going through it can ask questions and feel that they are not alone. My visual essay differs from my traditional essay. Not only am I limited to express what I want to with a drawing but it also becomes a little harder to keep the audience on track for them to understand what I am trying to convey. That you shouldn’t be asking for plus-ones unless you are a person who needs extra help or you are very close to the bride and groom and you want to bring a person who they already know. In an essay, you can say exactly what you mean because you’re using words and it doesn’t throw off the reader. But it’s also fun having a person try to guess what is happening. In the poster, I kept it as simple as possible so that everybody can understand No matter what background they come from, everyone has the ability to decode and understand what the poster is saying about weddings and getting a plus one. My poster is also very colorful and I did add words so that it can be easier for the viewer to understand but there’s just so much happening in the poster there is a title background a car in which if You ever been to a wedding or seen movies of weddings usually the bride and groom ride away in a car to their honeymoon. I added a little message so that it’s representing the bride and groom telling those who are not invited “sorry but not sorry” because they don’t really care.  I feel like a poster should have words so that it doesn’t leave the viewer out in the open trying to figure out what is happening but a poster shouldn’t have too many words where they’re overwhelmed with information.
